A Jar Full of Rainbows!

It was her birthday. She so wanted to see her friends, but because of the virus and the quarantine it was impossible to invite them…

Suddenly, unexpectedly, the door bell rang. Who? she thought, for it had been days and weeks since the last visitor. And so, curious and half-expectantly, she went and opened the door. But there was no one there. Only a small glass jar, glowing with colourful shades and reflections, which someone must have left on the threshold. She picked it up and looked at it.
“Oh!” she gasped. For inside of it a real rainbow shone!

She took it inside the house and admired it all day. And when she went to bed, she set the amazing jar on a table nearby. The light glowing from it cast rainbow reflections on the ceiling, as she fell asleep.

That night she had an unusual dream…

She was standing on a hilltop surrounded by three, majestic waterfalls. The spray rising from them sparkled in the brilliant sunlight, and a beautiful rainbow played above each. Spellbound, she stood and watched for a while…

And then, right out of nowhere, three small, beautiful fairies with transparent rainbow wings rose from the foaming waters. Laughing joyfully and circling in the air, they approached her.

“If you drink the water from my waterfall,” the fairy to the right said in a melodious voice, “then music will always sing in your heart!”

“If you drink the water from my waterfall, then the wind of fantasy will become your inseparable friend!” the fairy to the left told her in a voice like a soft breeze.

But the fairy in between them only pointed back to the waterfall behind her. In her hand was an artist’s brush, with which she painted cherry blossoms in the air in front of her. And then, with a smile, she breathed at her creation, and the snow-white petals danced in the air… Another stroke with the brush, and a tree grew forth in the air. A gentle touch and appetizing, burgundy cherries began to ripen on it…

As suddenly as they had appeared, the amazing fairies disappeared from sight. But the snow-white petals were still waving in the air over her head. Gradually they turned into radiant threads from which a delicate white canvas began to curl. She admired their work for a while, then resolutely went to meet the shining waterfalls…

When she returned back to the hill, her eyes shone like bright stars! She clasped her hands together and whispered words of thanks. And as she did so, a snow-white shawl fell on her shoulders and she felt a well-spring of life, beauty and happiness grow within her! :)))

The next morning, she went outside and opened the sparkling jar. A rainbow flew out of it and painted the sky bright. And all who saw it, looked up into the sky with hope…

And she? She now began to often visit the wonderful waterfalls in her imagination. And each time after that, new wonderful rainbows appeared in her magic jar, which she joyfully let out into the sunlit sky… 🙂

If you want to participate, please send me a link to the drawing, so I can use it in the story. 🙂
I cannot promise to use all drawings I receive, but I will carefully consider each and every one!
